Very good but...

On the first run of the dryer the gas burner sounded like a blow torch so we called for service. The tech said that this is how the burner should sound. Then the tech offered to reverse the door which is a very complicated task and he did it. The 4 stars are because the signal at the end of drying is very weak. Also it is very difficult to see the text on the functions display: it is in dark gray over black background - a back-light is missing here. There are features designed for LG Android smart phone but not for an Apple i-Phone.

We have had our LG gas dryer for just over a month and the performance has been terrific. It is much quieter than our old dryer. The tilt forward door so called Easyload has some value but the mechanism seems complex and we shall see how it holds up. There are several features that I really like: * the flow sense vent duct check * Energy Saver air tumble * nice and bright drum light * custom cycle. My major dislike is the control panel. The legends around the selection dial are not lit and as a consequence one must turn on full room light to make a selection. Also the time and status display is icons and cryptic error codes. One would think that a full alpha-numeric display would not be such an additional expense especially since LG is one of the largest screen makers on the planet. Icons and stacked words i.e. Ultra Low Low Medium Mid High etc are ok but really how about a display that talks to me in words. For example: when the Wrinkle Care feature is active the dryer indicates this with a chase light going around and around the numeric readout. At first I thought it was an error code. I looked it up and it is supposed to mimic a turning drum. This idiocy is only one of many examples. AND I certainly hope that LG service will improve as we had a very disappointing service experience with our LG washing machine with the sidekick drawer washer. However on balance I am please with the unit and would buy it again.

Steam feature needs improvement

I have had the dryer for about a month now and its great. I have one complaint the dryer door was supposed to be switched to open from the right and it was not upon delivery so we had to have someone come out to do that. after 3 times using the dryer now there is a screw that keeps falling out. I paid a lot for this appliance and screws should not be falling out after only a couple of days.

After much research we chose this dryer for various reasons. 1. LG is rated to have the lowest repair occurrences. 2. the door opening is large and the openings edges are well constructed. We looked at another high-rated brand that looked similar but when we opened the door the opening was rather small and the metal edges flimsy. 3. The dual door especially when you have trouble bending down is an absolute plus. The dryers we looked at open to the site only. My previous 30-year-old dryer opened top to bottom. The chute prevents the laundry from landing on the floor while loading no bending down required and the laundry basket is easily filled when the door opens to the side. It is also reversible. 4. Initially we had purchased a less expensive LG dryer and were dissatisfied with the wrinkled clothes. We returned it and chose this dryer and are so glad we did. The laundry comes out fluffy and just a little warm. No need to iron most items such as sheets and tablecloth. T-shirts are folded while slightly warm and are smooth and wrinkle free. The same with jeans. They come out perfect. I hardly use fabric softener anymore. 5. The many cycle settings are nice. For the most part I use the towel one and the majority of the laundry sheets t-shirts cottons I use the bedding setting. The normal setting runs a little longer but I find it is not needed. My rugs will last longer because of the no heat setting. Some of the settings are static and cant be changed some settings have dynamic options and can be tailored to your needs. 6. The absolute treasurer is the steam feature which I thought was just a gimmick and one I would not use much. But oh how much I have benefited from it already. Here are some samples: 6a. Steam Sanitary: Stuffed animals all my bed pillows and decorative pillows my throws my memory foam seat cushions my comforters my heating blankets gym clothes etc. - the results are incredible. Everything comes out fluffy smelling fresh and clean. It wont remove tough stains but minor things have been steamed away. 6b. The Steam Fresh feature I used to quickly rid some of my cloths of cooking odors and my dress pants and sweaters to freshen up. Wonderful. 7. The glass door is convenient. The dryer light comes on when the cycle has completed. The chimes are pleasant but hard to hear when you are in another room maybe the electronic connection to your phone warns. I havent had the need to try any more cycles that one can download so we havent tried that technology yet. 8. Controls: Even though the unit has a knob the controls are actually digital. Still I prefer turning knobs rather than pushing buttons. 9. Cycles: Some cycles are different only in the number of minutes they run i.e. Bedding and Normal. Bedding is set about 10 min. less that Normal. I use the Bedding setting for most laundry including jeans. The sensors do the rest. It all depends on how wet your laundry is. Since I use two spin cycles for heavier wash i.e. towels I never had to rerun the dryer cycle. The Permanent Press setting keeps my laundry wet enough so that I can hang them up for drip drying without the dripping The cold feature is great for rubber-backed rugs and the like. 10. Ergonomics: We are in our late 60s. Many of the new appliances have their function keys in the front panel above the door. I assume so that they can be stacked. We have room for side-by-side and we did not want to have to bent down each time we want to start the dryer. Additionally the front-control dryers dont have a lip in the back. Meaning there is the opportunity for things to fall off behind your appliances. We like the back panel controls they are easy to see control and manipulate and nothing slides off the back. This dryer cost a little more up front but I am convinced it saves on many other purchases in the long-run. check with your Gas Company for rebate options as this dryer meets the energy efficient requirements. The only suggestion I would have for the manufacturer LG is to allow the complete cycle signal to be much louder or the option to send a message to a smart phone or other smart devise. Apparently the machine has the capability to download cycles but I havent figured out how to use that technology or it is not available for use in the US.

What a time saver?

I bought this product about a month ago. It is quiet and efficient and more importantly the days to getting up to check if clothes are dry are over. It will add time if clothes are still damp due to its Smart features and sensors on most loads. Love the variety and ease of use with controls for towels etc. I remove the clothes and always cooled down at end of cycle. No more hot burning hands when reaching in. Thank you LG for this superb dryer.

I am an LG fan and I purchased this dryer because of it cycles and options. For any cycle there are two variables: temperature and how much to dry. The dryness can be substituted for timer. This one has the third variable - anti static and steam both are same in terms of how it does. Let me narrate my experience which shows how useless this dryer is- 1. It fails to sense moisture - if the clothes are more wet they come out wet in any cycle. And if I put almost dry clothes then if a cycle has chosen some time say 40 minutes it runs for full 40 minutes without considering the condition. 2. When I choose a cycle I am stuck with what ever temp and dryness level is preset for it. But the good news is that since I know the time it needs to dry so I instead choose time dry with my needed setting. 3. When I choose anti-static option hoping that it will give some steam to release static it refuses to respond to my button press it makes an error sound. Hence the anti static option is for show only no functionality behind the button. 4. In all the cycles in the left side it says it has a built in steam and moisture sensor - but as I wrote before it is for show and sales only they both do not work. However there is one steam cycle when I used it I found that instead of steam it had water dripping of it through out and made the clothes wet. This dryer is in its warranty period but I wonder all must be the same changing the piece will not help. Thanks for reading my experience.

Have only had this for a couple of weeks - so far were impressed with the features and performance and especially how QUITE it runs. Not using the steam feature at the moment just dont have need for it. Honestly I did not realize this model had the steam options. I guess Im a bit leery over having water in a gas dryer and dealing with potential leak issues. However since I have no experience with a steam type dryer I just cant say for sure. For now well let the dryer do what it seems to do great which is dry clothes and keep the steam iron handy for that job...

Its much better than my old dryer of course my old dryer was 20 something years old so.... Love that this thing is smarter than me fill it up tell it what you put in and it figures out how to dry it. So far everything seems to work fine. If I had to find a fault its that a really small load I did a separate wash of some rags felt a little damp when it was done. Regular loads of towels sheets etc. Come out fine.

Needed a dryer that vented out of the bottom - this fits the bill has many nice features. It seems like it is sturdily built but I guess that we wont really know for some time. As is with most products today the manual is the real problem as it doesnt really explain how too do things it just explains the function. Including an instructional CD going through all the features would be the way to go...... Please note any ratings on this product are based on only a few weeks of use so are virtually inconsequential.

This dryer has a huge capacity dries the clothes well provides for a wrinkle free outcome and the steam feature is fantastic for removing wrinkles or fluffing up courderoy velour and shirts or large items. We absolutely love the clever door swinging open from the top down to load and from the side to remove clothes. However the signal is so inaudible even on the loudest setting that if the dryer is located on another level such as the basement or upstairs it is almost impossible to hear. The control panel displays a time but the dryer is usually done drying much sooner making it very hard to gauge when to check the clothes. In addition the dryer is marketed as being compatible with any smartphone so by adding the app we shouldve been able to see exactly when the clothes were done. This is not true. LG is not compatible with the Apple iPhone as we were led to believe. It took us three days 3 calls to our salesman 2 calls to LG and our own research to figure out this misleading information. Very disappointed as we purchased this dryer for that feature since we knew we couldnt hear the signal.

I bought this gas dryer a month ago because of LG good reputation. Then I have to call for Service because of clothes not fully dry. After the service it is fine now. The design of the front door that cant fully open downward is set back. Other than that I like the mechine.

I bought this dryer a month ago because of the LG brand name. After using it for less than a month the clothes were not complete dry. The clothes is still damp at end of full circle. The front door can be opened either side way or up and down. However the door can not be opened fully for up and down feature and is not quite usable. James

We got this dryer a few months ago and I could not be happier The settings are simple and easy to customize. Capacity is fantastic I can do our cal king bedding in one load and it doesnt take hours to dry Being LG brand is an added plus we have other LG brands products and have had no issues it was also the brand the sales rep suggested as the best.

14 settings. There are changes which could be made within SOME settings. The settings guide within the manual is a must to read understand and somewhat memorize. It is important to not mix heavier clothing with lighter weight items. After a few uses you will understand how to decide on which setting is best for the load.
