Great except for the mold

We love our ice maker, other than the constant buildup of black and red mold in the back of the unit where you are unable to reach it. When we had a repairman out for a separate issue (that was taken care of under warranty), he indicated ours was cleaner than most and that there's no way to clean it other than by completely disassembling the unit. He tried to convince us that it doesn't touch the ice, but during the cleaning process today, it's clear the mold is spreading to areas touched by water/ice. I live in a very dry state with no added humidity in the air and the mold formed before the first cleaning cycle, and we run the cleaning solution through it more frequently than recommended. I've had the unit for almost three years now and love the ice, but am concerned about the health effects of ingesting moldy ice.

Had to replace our Maytag ice maker. It died 10 days after the 5 year warranty ran out. The KitchenAid makes ice faster and is much quieter. For some reason, the door won't fit under our counter top, so the door and handle stick out farther than I would have liked, but its location next to the fridge makes it so no one will get caught on the handle. Also, tried to install a water filter...very tight, and after the installation, the machine stopped making ice. When I removed the filter, the ice maker worked fantastically! Hope to have this machine for a long time.

The unit works great once completely assembled, but does not come complete from manufacturer. Unless used with an in floor gravity drain system, an optional drain pump kit is required to complete installation. This optional kit is another $450 above the cost of the ice maker. Although the optional kit is documented in the installation manual, it would have been nice to know it was required at the time I purchased the ice maker, both from a fully known cost perspective, and the fact that the pump kit must be ordered and requires about 2 weeks to receive.

I bought this to replace a broken U-Line ice maker. Turns out that it is unbelievably quiet compared to the U-Line, makes great ice and quickly. The only thing I don't like is the built in water purifier, I'd rather have the choice to have a separate purification system. Still, market price for the filters is around 25 (versus 50 retail) so a tolerable expense.

So far, over the last year, we have traveled out of town to the vacation home FIVE different times to meet the installers to attempt to replace and repair parts. This is my second KitchenAid under-counter ice machine. My first KitchenAid ice machine lasted 17 years. When my original ice machine gave up the ghost I began searching for a replacement. I needed a 15" under-counter ice machine with a stainless steel door and a gravity drain. I looked at all makes and models and found KitchenAid, again, looked like the best option. However, the website makes it difficult to find the gravity drain. Finally I went into a retail location. A sales rep helped me find what I needed. The new ice machine has improvements over my old ice machine, like a built-in water filter. I'm looking forward to 17+ years of filtered ice from my new KitchenAid under counter ice machine. This is my favorite appliance in my kitchen.

I have had this ice maker for just over a year and it has gone out twice. Both times the water continues to run but it will not make ice. I have had the repair people out of fix it the first time and now (after just over a year and a repeat of the same issue) they want to charge me to fix it the second time. It is also very load compared to other icemakers I have had.

Our first KitchenAid ice maker lasted 11 years before requiring repair for a refrigerant leak and lasted another year after the repair. We installed the new ice maker yesterday around 5PM and had nearly a full bin of ice this morning. Our biggest disappointment (actually, my wife was mad as a hornet) is that there was no filter included with the ice maker. With the premium price for buying KitchenAid products, I expected a filter to be included. The instructions discuss the filter but do not mention that it is not included with the ice maker. I expected more than this from a premium brand.

We had a similar one for years so bought the same as a replacement. The first one didn't work so refused to accept if it needed repair fresh from the factory. The replacement worked but not as well as it should have. A technician checked it and found a part had to be ordered and replaced. Since part installed, unit seems to be working ok but seems noisier than our old one and interior seems smaller. This one has water filter which the old one did not. Ice is good: nice and clear.

So far I am quite pleased with this ice maker (our second one). BUT, I chose this model because of the integrated water filter. Much to my surprise, I cleaned the machine for the first time yesterday and went to replace the water filter to discover there was no filter installed. My installer never said anything and I just assumed one came with the unit - as it does with a new refrigerator . Quite disappointed that I have been using the unit for 9 months with no filter installed. My fault??????? An installation problem? Would love to hear from kitchen aid .

This product required repair after 13 months. Of course, the warranty is only for 12 months. I did an online chat with Kitchenaid who scheduled an appointment with their "factory-authorized service technician." I have paid close to 500 dollars so far and the ice machine is still not fixed. The company has been a no-show twice and does not return calls. If this is who kitchenaid recommends, I will not buy another product again. We remodeled our kitchen and bought all new SS Kitchenaid appliances. I will have to start over with another repair company, and pay out additional money due to my reliance on the company Kitchenaid recommended. I did call Kitchenaid to complain and was told a complaint against the company would be filed. 5 weeks later, I still do not have a working ice machine. The ice machine is great, while it lasts. But the initial cost and repair cost from fleecing - I would have a hard time telling anyone else to buy this product.

Within one week of getting the icemaker I had to get a new motor because the machine was overheating. I also had to buy a pump to drain it. The thing that makes me the most upset is that the bottom vent does not match the other KitchenAid appliances - it should be stainless steel and it's black. Very disappointed.

Hello, I have a KUIX305ESS icemaker that I had installed approx a year ago. A few months ago I started having problems with the water filter. The change filter light came on, I replaced the filter. Three weeks later the change filter light came on. I bought another filter but , it stopped making ice. To make matters, worse, the filter jammed and I could not get it out of the machine. First service call,the tech could not remove filter either , but was able to turn it enough to allow ice to be made without the filter until a new filter housing arrived. Second service call, tech replaced the housing, inserted a new filter, but water would not pass through it. He did say there was plenty of pressure as when filter removed water flowed as expected. He then replaced the water valve(3rd call), still nothing and all the tech could surmise was the filters were defective. He had no other solutions and told me to contact you. Can you help??

WE have had 5 (yes, 5 ) U-line or Scotsman ice makers in our two homes. They produced the big cubes. For whatever reason, we would have to replace them about every 3 years. They just stopped working and making cubes. We followed the maintainable instructions faithfully, but they would only work so many years and that was it. We decided to give Kitchen Aid a try. We are absolutely and completely happy with the one we have in our upstairs butler's pantry. Small cubes and it makes cubes very quickly. WE could not be happier with our new machine

I purchased this a month ago and have been very pleased. It replaced an older Kitchenaid 15" ice maker. The installation was a bit difficult as we had to unscrew a part to get through the machine to align the drain. We didn't have to do that with the old one but once we realized the solution, it was a piece of cake. The new machine produces more ice in a shorter amount of time which is great.

This is my second KitchenAid undercounter ice maker. The first lasted 4 years. This one doesn't make ice very well or as fast. The ice is always wet and melting even after just being made. We are a family of 4 adults and if we had more in our home, it wouldn't be able to keep up with our needs. That said, we are all away at work or school during the day so the ice maker has a chance to catch up. Not impressed! The only reason I replaced the ice maker is because we are getting ready to sell the house. I didn't want to remodel the kitchen to replace the open spot where the ice maker goes.

Your time window will be set the evening before and you will receive it through a phone call from our Phoenixville branch. If you have not received your time window by 7:30 pm, please call 610-933-2900 (Option 2 for Retail Sales) and check with a Sales Associate.

Directions and Cross Streets

Your salesperson is responsible for asking all the necessary details to get your new appliances to your home, however if they forget to ask for the nearest cross street please call and let them know. GPS and online maps are not always accurate, so the nearest cross street and any directions or details that you feel will help them are greatly appreciated and necessary for our drivers (i.e. low bridges, unmarked roads, landmarks, etc.).

Standard Installations

If our delivery team deems any installation as 'non-standard' they will require your approval and signature before proceeding. In addition, an additional fee may be charged depending on the nature of the situation to compensate for additional time spent and materials used, similar to working with any other contractor. 'Non-standard' installations include, but are not limited to, the following scenarios:


Flooring that is raised or built on top of a pre-existing floor makes dishwasher installations very difficult. Cutting off legs of the old dishwasher may be required for removal, but will only be performed with your authorization and signature. There is no guarantee that your dishwasher can be installed if your floor is raised too high, so please discuss this possibility with your salesperson so you can purchase a dishwasher that has more flexibility for your particular installation needs. If a dishwasher installation is beyond the scope of our trained professionals, we might insist on refunding your delivery fee and leaving the project for your own contractor. As a conscientious delivery crew, we always choose to error on the side of protecting your property and avoiding a sloppy installation.

Gas Ranges and Dryers

Gas valves must be located in the appropriate position behind the appliance, as we cannot reposition or manipulate any gas line. We will not touch gas valves on the outside of the house and be responsible for restarting your pilot lights.

Electric Ranges and Dryers

Hardwiring ranges and dryers does not meet the required regulations. We come prepared with 3 prong ($19.95) and 4 prong receptacles ($29.95) which must be installed and will hang loose, but safely, behind the unit. This nominal fee is significantly less than hiring an electrician, so please cooperate with our installers who insist on following local code. Look behind your appliance...If there is a 220v outlet, there will be no additional charges. New cords must always be purchased (3 Prong - $12.95, 4 Prong - $16.95), even with a receptacle installation, as we never take the risk of using an old and possibly frayed cord.

Washing Machines

Old fill hoses can leak or burst. Queen insists on protecting your property by using only new hoses for every one of our washer installations. Some machines come with new rubber hoses, while many do not, so be prepared to purchase new rubber or stainless steel ones for a small fee. If you insist on using your old hoses, that is not a problem, however we will only put the unit in place and you must sign and indicate that you will be hooking up the hoses yourself. 5 foot fill hoses are always used, which is longer than the standard 4 foot; however some tight spaces require longer fill hoses and drain hose extensions for a small fee (i.e. laundry centers).


Refrigerator water lines can only be connected to copper tubing (no charge for install) or via poly line to a shut-off valve behind the refrigerator (small fee for materials). The installers can run a new water line with copper tubing for $79.95.

Inclement Weather

Please understand that our hard-working delivery crew cannot control inclement weather and traffic conditions. If emergencies arise you will be notified and rescheduling arrangements will be made to the best of our abilities. Completing all of our deliveries is a commitment we always keep, and we never intend to inconvenience any of our customers.

Scratch & Dent Appliances

Since Scratch & Dent appliances have pre-existing damage, please make sure to fill out a damage detail form with your salesperson. Our drivers take great pride in protecting your purchases, one of the main reasons we do not sub-contract our delivery team.


Removals of old appliances are $5 for each piece ($15 for Refrigerators) or can be taken outside for your bulk trash pickup at no charge.

  • All merchandise must be inspected and tested at the time of delivery.
  • Queen Appliance is not responsible for customer installation errors.
  • All dimensions must be approved for all major appliances. All no-fit and good stock returns will be charged a 20% restocking fee plus a re-delivery charge, if applicable. Merchandise must be in its original condition and include all original packing materials, accessories, product manuals and warranty cards. There will be no refund for labor, delivery and/or installation services for good stock returns.
  • If you receive a product that is functionally defective upon delivery you must contact your sales associate within 72 hours for an exchange*. After this period, the manufacturer requires in-home service. If the appliance is deemed non-repairable by the manufacturer it will be replaced in accordance with their individual service/return policies.
  • If you receive a cartoned product that is cosmetically damaged and the part is not replaceable** you must contact your sales associate within 72 hours for an exchange***. After this period, the manufacturer does not authorize damage returns. If you receive a product that is cosmetically damaged and the part is replaceable**, you have 14 days from the time of delivery to request a replacement part at no charge.
  • Queen Appliance reserves the right to limit or refuse to accept the return of merchandise at any time and for any reason. In rare cases, some appliances are non-returnable.
  • * Scratch & Dent appliances and Special Buy items are often one of a kind and sold at significant discounts, therefore if no exact replacement model is available you may apply the credit for that appliance toward a different model. Queen Appliance will always work to provide the best value possible, however any difference in product price is the responsibility of the customer.
  • ** Examples of replaceable cosmetic parts include, but are not limited to:
    • Handles
    • Knobs
    • Panels
    • Feet/Leveling Legs
    • Escutcheon Plate/Panel
    • Toe Kick/Kick Plate
    • etc
  • *** Scratch & Dent and other unboxed items are subject to the agreement at the time of sale. Customer must sign that the appliance arrived in the same condition that it was purchased. If any additional damage is noticed, please contact your sales associate immediately at the time of delivery. Returns after the time of delivery are subject to a re-delivery fee. Damage returns will not be authorized after 72 hours, although replacement parts can be ordered up to 14 days from the time of delivery. Queen Appliance reserves the right to determine if a cosmetic part is to be replaced or if the product should be returned instead.

  • Payments are to be made to Queen Appliance without any deduction or discount other than as stated in these Terms or in the relevant invoice or statement.
  • Online Orders: The balance of the invoice must be paid in full at the time of purchase.
  • In-Store / Phone Orders (Factory-Direct / New In Box Orders): A deposit of 50% of the invoice price must be paid when placing an order, in order for us to place the order with the vendor. The remaining balance of 50% must be paid within 15 days or at the time of delivery (whichever comes sooner).
  • In-Store / Phone Orders (Open Box / One-Of-A-Kind): A deposit of 5% of the item price must be paid when placing an order, in order to temporarily hold the product for 15 days maximum. An additional 45% deposit must be made within the first 15 day period (bringing the deposit total to 50%), in order to continue to hold the product. The product must be paid in full within 30 days from placing the order or at the time of delivery (whichever comes sooner).
  • Should these terms not be met, we reserve the right to cancel your order and release any product holds at our discretion. A full refund for all deposits made will be provided back to you via the original payment method used.
  • There are no storage charges for items held in our warehouse as long as the item is paid in accordance with the Billing Terms and Conditions listed above.
  • We accept the following credit card payment methods: Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover.
  • We offer free 6 months financing (0% Interest) via a BrandSource Credit Card pending credit approval by Citibank. 12 Month Financing is available during certain promotional time windows. Contact your local showroom for more information. Online purchases do not qualify.

  • We accept cash/check payment in-store only. Checks must clear our bank account before any product may be picked up or left on-site at delivery.
  • We are responsible for collecting sales tax in the state of Pennsylvania. It is the customer's responsibility to declare and pay any applicable sales or use taxes for items delivered outside of Pennsylvania.
