What is Induction Cooking?
Induction is a third method of cooking technology, separate from traditional electric or gas cooking, that makes the cooking vessel itself the original generator of cooking heat. Most electric elements or gas burners generate heat which is transfered to the pot or pan and then transfered to the food. Induction uses a powerful, high-frequency electromagnet to create a magnetic field and induce/transfer energy into the cookware. Thus, the metal cooking vessel itself generates the initial heat to transfer to the food.
Can I use an Induction Cooktop in my home kitchen?
Yes, and you should highly consider it! Induction Cooktops are now produced by many manufacturers in all styles, including built-in cooktops, freestanding ranges and slide-in ranges.
